An anti-racist experience
to make black potential visible
Hello, teachers!
Welcome to Aperte o PLAY+! Have you noticed the new "+" in the title? It means we've expanded Aperte o PLAY! First, we combined Maker Culture + Elastic Readings + Early Childhood Education + Fables. If you haven't accessed our material yet, don't waste time and click [HERE]. This time, we've stretched even further and brought to this equation an urgent and relevant theme for the school we dream to exist: one that makes use of Anti-Racist Pedagogy
We believe in building a future without prejudice and racism for children. Every story and activity in Aperte o Play + is designed to engage everyone, especially those with black skin, creating a welcoming environment. We choose to focus on anti-racist education because we understand the crucial impact of racial relationships on childhood development.
We want to create environments that celebrate diversity and empower children to question and overcome prejudices. This project is our commitment to fairer futures, where every child, regardless of skin color, can thrive and contribute to society positively. Are you with us?
we will need everyone for this challenge

We are offering 8 stories for free in our resource pack. Out of the eight stories, five are 100% original, created by our team. The other three are in the public domain, and we adapted them so that we can tell them to young children. The stories extend to activities in collective didactic sequences, offering situational engagement opportunities for black children to feel welcomed, heard, represented, and valued.
'Oh, but is the project only for black individuals?'
Of course not. It's for everyone. We believe that childhood is the key moment for the structural formation of affective, political, and ethical repertoires. We count on you, educators, on this journey. Are you ready to press PLAY again?
We invited anti-racist educator Clarissa Brito, a psychopedagogue and specialist in Racial Literacy, to collaborate with Thomas Maker on Aperte o PLAY+. Clarissa is from Rio de Janeiro and travels across Brazil promoting teacher training. She recorded four podcasts with us and produced two texts for our reflection.
